Turn a picture of a ring into a production-ready 3D model. Parametric Studio reads a photo or a description, builds the piece from certified jewelry parts, checks that it can be cast, and gives you a CAD file you can edit, version, and export.
Parametric Studio is a Beta for Pro plans and above, on desktop. It can misread a photo, miss a detail, or get a size wrong — check dimensions, stones, and settings before casting.

Overview

  • From a photo or a brief to a castable model in minutes
  • Built from certified parts — bands, heads, halos, pavé shoulders — with stones seated from the gem catalogue
  • Every build is checked before it is handed over: one closed solid, no wall under 0.30 mm, stones with seats
  • Edit by asking in plain language, or by hand with Move, Rotate, Scale, and Mirror
  • Every version kept — compare any two, restore any one
  • Bring your own CAD: STEP, STL, 3DM, OBJ, GLB, glTF, or 3MF
  • Export STEP for CAD, STL for printing, and GLB for the web, with a spec sheet

Accessing Parametric Studio

Open Parametric from the sidebar — it carries a Beta pill and needs a Pro plan or above (Pro, Studio, a Team seat, or Enterprise). The first time you open it, a short notice explains two things: a build uses credits as it works, and it makes mistakes.

How it works

1. Add your ring

Attach one clear photo of a ring, or describe the piece in a sentence. A plain background, good light, and the whole piece in frame work best. Say what the photo cannot show: the ring size, the centre stone’s size, and anything hidden such as the inside of the band or the gallery under a halo. You can also start from your own file. Use Upload a file in the + menu to bring in a STEP, STL, 3DM, OBJ, GLB, glTF, or 3MF model; it becomes version 1 of the piece and everything below applies to it.

2. Watch it work

The process feed shows what is happening as it happens: the reading of your photo (the piece it sees, the cut, the setting), the plan, the build, and the reviewer’s change orders. A first result usually arrives within minutes.

3. Check the piece

The model opens in the viewer, with its stones in place. Beside it, the spec sheet lists dimensions, ring sizes (US, UK, EU, JP), and metal weights by alloy, and the castability check says whether the piece is one closed solid with walls thick enough to cast.

4. Edit it

Keep talking to change the piece — one change per message works best:
Each change becomes a new version. A question — “What is the bore?” — is answered from the saved model without a rebuild. For exact moves, use the tools: Move, Rotate, Scale, and Mirror apply to the whole piece and file their own version.

5. Export

Download STEP (editable B-rep CAD for Rhino, Matrix, or Fusion), STL (a print mesh for castable resin on any printer), or GLB (the viewer mesh). The stones are listed with the model, so a caster knows what is set where.

Versions

Every build and every edit is kept as a version. Open any version, compare two on one turntable, and restore the one you want to continue from — a restore adds a version rather than replacing one, so nothing is lost.

Builders

Leave Auto on and Tashvi builds with Claude Opus 5.5. Open the picker to choose another builder; each has its own credit price.

Credits

A build is charged as it works, in whole credits per model call, and a full build can use a lot of them. A build needs a balance to start; if yours is too low, you will see a note to add credits. You will see a warning when credits run low; if they run out, the build pauses and keeps its best version, and Resume continues it after a top-up.

Tips for best results

  • One ring, one clear photo: sharp, well lit, plain background, the whole piece in frame.
  • Give the numbers the photo cannot: ring size, centre stone width and length, band width.
  • Name what is hidden: the gallery under a halo, the inside of the band, a split shank.
  • One change per message when editing, so each version does one thing you can check.
  • Rings are the best-supported piece today. Other pieces can be built; check them more closely.

Troubleshooting

  • The reading is wrong: crop closer so the ring fills the frame, remove clutter, and say the cut and setting in words.
  • The build paused: credits ran out — top up and press Resume. The best version so far is kept.
  • The result drifted from the photo: restore the closest version and ask for one change at a time.
  • Dimensions look off: state the ring size and stone size in your message, then rebuild; check the spec sheet before casting.
  • Draft — image-to-3D meshes at three quality levels
  • Create — design and refine through conversation
  • Gallery — organize your designs and models
