# Products & stock

> Create products in Tashvi One, book in individually tagged pieces, set reorder points and metal rates, run a physical stocktake, and export your catalogue.

**Products** is where your catalogue and your stock live together. Each product is a design, like a halo ring in 18K gold, and each piece you own is a tagged instance of it. Expand a product row to see its pieces.

## Create a product

Choose **New product** on **Products**, or **Add → Product** from anywhere.

| Field                               | What to enter                                                                 |
| ----------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Name**                            | The design, like "Celeste Halo Ring"                                          |
| **Category**                        | Ring, necklace, bracelet, earring, pendant, chain, bangle, or gems and stones |
| **SKU prefix**                      | Filled in from the category. The number is added when you save.               |
| **Metal** and **Purity**            | Such as 18K gold or 925 silver                                                |
| **Retail price** and **Cost price** | In your shop's currency                                                       |
| **Tax & HSN**                       | Optional. A product tax rate overrides your shop rate.                        |

## Add stock

Press **+** on a product row, or **Add stock** inside it.

    Enter the gross weight in grams. The cost is filled in from the product's cost price, so change it if this piece cost something different.

  <Step title="Leave the tag to Tashvi One">
    Leave **Tag** blank and Tashvi One generates one, like `RING-00007`. Enter a tag only when the piece already carries one from a supplier or an older book. India shops can add the **HUID**.

  <Step title="Add it">
    Press **Add stock**. The piece is booked into your main safe. To move it to the showcase, ask the [assistant](/features/tashvi-one/assistant), which is included with paid plans.

To bring in many pieces at once, use [Import from a file](/features/tashvi-one/import). For a supplier delivery with a bill, use [Purchasing](/features/tashvi-one/purchasing).

## Keep an eye on stock

* **Low stock** lists the products that have fallen below their reorder point, most urgent first. Set a product's reorder point by editing it.
* **Metal rates** records your selling rate per gram for each metal and purity. In shops that price by weight, the default in India and several other markets, new sales are priced from the latest rate, so record a rate before you sell. Invoices already issued keep their prices.
* **Search** on Products finds a product by name or SKU, or a piece by its tag.

## Run a stocktake

    Choose **Stocktake** on **Products**, pick a location, add a reason or reference, and press **Start stocktake**.

  <Step title="Count">
    Scan or paste the tags you find, one per line.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review">
    Press **Save scans & review differences** to compare what you found with what should be there.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve">
    An owner or manager confirms the count and presses **Approve adjustments**. Missing pieces are written off, and pieces found in the wrong place are moved to where they were counted.

## Export

**Export products** and **Export stock** download CSV files of your catalogue and the pieces you currently own, following whatever you've searched for.
