# Plan

> Turn on Plan in Create to see the brief Tashvi will send to the image model before anything generates. Answer a few questions, edit the brief in words or by hand, and press Craft. Planning is free.

Between your words and the image, Tashvi writes a brief for the image model: the stone, the setting, the metal, and how the piece is staged, lit, and photographed. Plan shows you that brief before anything is drawn, so you can fix what it got wrong and press **Craft** when it reads right.

Planning is free. You're charged once, when you draw the design.

## How to open it

On the Create composer, open the **+** menu and choose **Plan**. A **Plan** chip appears next to the **+** button, and sending a message now makes a plan instead of a design. Press **×** on the chip to leave.

With Concepts off, and outside a private chat, you can also type something like "let's plan it first" and Tashvi turns Plan on for that request. With Concepts on, a message is drawn as concepts, so use the **+** menu instead.

Plan works in both composers and lasts while you work on the page. **New chat** turns it off, and choosing Ask, Variations, or Batch leaves it.

## Make a plan

    Send your request as usual. A plan card appears under it and shows **Reading your brief…** while Tashvi reads it.

  <Step title="Answer a few quick questions">
    For a new piece started from scratch, Tashvi may ask up to three quick questions first. Pick an answer, type your own under **Something else**, or skip.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the brief">
    The card is titled **Here's how I read it**, or **Here's how I read your change** when you're editing a design or have attached a reference image. Edit the text directly. The design part can be up to 1,500 characters.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change it in words">
    While a plan is open, the composer changes the plan: "make the shank tapered," "the halo should be pavé, not a single row." The card updates in place and keeps your hand edits. A question like "why four prongs?" is answered in the chat without changing the plan.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Press Craft">
    Press **Craft**, or Enter inside the brief, to draw the design. It uses the settings already in your composer: [quality tier](/features/create/quality-tiers), aspect ratio, style, [model](/features/create/models), [skills](/features/create/skills), and references. If Concepts is on, every concept comes from the approved brief.

A collapsed line under the finished design shows the plan it came from, and your next change builds on that approved brief.

To leave an open plan, press **Esc** in the card or **×** on the chip, and your words go back to the composer. Changing the tier, model, style, references, or private chat does the same. An open plan isn't saved, so reloading the page loses it.

## When Plan steps aside

These turns send as they would with Plan off:

* Edits to a part you selected with [Segments](/features/create/segments) or the **Select** tool on the canvas
* **Vary**, [Guided design](/features/create/guided-design), variations, and retries of a crafted design
* The **Generate variations** and **Create a video of this** suggestions. Other suggestions go through the composer, so with Plan on they make a plan.
* With **Auto** off, a pinned model that reads the conversation directly. There's no brief to show, so the turn sends and is charged as usual.

When the card can't make a plan, it says so:

| A note asking you to keep the request appropriate             | Nothing is charged. Rephrase the request.                |
